This travel guide, published in 1871, about the same time as the map of houses and owners in this part of the Website, describes travelling by horse and/or carriage south of Pau into the Pyrennes. This is the same route we follow everytime we go to Pau for supplies. It is interesting how little is changed.
For instance, the track from St. Christau to Louvie is still much like it was then except that it has been blacktopped. Coming out at the end of the route above Louvie is still breathtaking. Actually one comes out at the town of Arudy today.
Likewise, the information about the Protestant enclave in Osse is borne out by the information posted on the Web by the Latourrette family.
