| Although real carpenters have a tool to cut these notches, we had a sawzall and a chisel. To set the joists in the main beams, we cut a receiving notch. Eventually about 75 notches support the joists. Instead of leaving the ends free floating as was done in the previous floor, we nailed the joists to the beams. This makes the floor stiffer and we hope it doesn't cause problems later we haven't forseen. | |||||||
